Media and Communications BA, what are the best schools?

I’m looking for good Media and Communications programs, strong programs, for Undergrads. The areas I’m mostly looking into going to school for are Kansas City, Southern Florida, and New England. I live in Connecticut, and I plan on returning to live here after college and looking for work in either this state or Rhode Island. I can’t go to California for college, so unfortunately I can’t enroll in UC Berkeley’s lovely program.

Also…unless the school is very generous with financial aid, I can’t really go to a school that costs more than $35,000 a year, and when I say $35,000, I mean total cost, not just tuition. Southern Florida colleges I could be a little more lenient on with cost, because I could live with relatives and commute, but Kansas City area and New England area, I would need to live on campus.

So, what are some of the schools I should be looking into for these requirements? I’ve been trying to hunt around, but I’m just not sure. I seem to keep finding for-profit schools by accident, which I’ve been told I should steer way clear from, as employers seem to pretty much laugh in your face if they see your degree is from a fraudulent school.

Thank you!

I am sure you will hear about schools such as BU, Emerson, and Quinnipiac. If you don’t need a “big name” and want the most bang for your buck - Fitchburg State University in Central Mass has a Phenomenal undergrad, grad and recently added CAGS in Communication with specialties in all areas of Media (Film, Video, Graphics, etc.)

But you need to run a finaid calculator with input from your parents to see what your family’s expected contribution is. If you don’t qualify for aid, you will probably need to focus on your in-state public schools as the private ones like Emerson, BU, Northeastern would be too expensive (all over 50K).
