how do you appeal a medical school rejection to a UC school?
Have you contacted the specific school to see if they accept appeals?
I don’t know that you can “appeal” a rejection from a med school. Decisions are final.
What basis for an appeal do you believe you have? Admission to med school isn’t an entitlement and the admission process is holistic, with lots of nuances and granularity. Stats alone don’t guarantee anything when it comes to medical school admission.
Probably the best approach would be not to “appeal” the decision, but to ask for feedback on your application, specifically asking how you can improve your application for your next round of applications. Most med schools will not give feedback at all, much less give detailed feedback, but it doesn’t hurt to politely and humbly ask. Just remember that medical school admission is highly competitive and that your application will be judged against all those others who are applying. Even if you do get feedback and improve your app in exactly the ways that were suggested, it doesn’t guarantee you won’t get rejected again next time
How does one request feedback on the application? To the dean of admissions?
Yes, email the Dean of Admission. Ask if s/he or a member of the admissions staff would be willing to sit down and review your application with you to help identify your weak areas.
Don’t be disappointed if you don’t receive a response. Most med school do not give feedback.
