Medical school dropout to MSE?

I just finished my first year of med school, and I am disillusioned with the track I’m on. I want to drop out and, at some point, pursue software engineering. I live in California, so a second bachelors is not really an option anymore, so I am considering a Masters in CompSci/SE from a school like Cal Poly.

Is this a realistic option? Will dropping out of one form of graduate school ruin my chances for another? Do schools have the ability to find out if I had dropped out from a school if I don’t mention it? I am in good academic standing.

The CSU schools I’ve looked at say they accept students for masters programs without a related bachelors conditionally and allow prereqs to be taken with them…is this a reality or is it in truth very rare for them to do so? My undergraduate record was very good, and I was planning on taking prereqs at community college to prove my interest/aptitude and gather some recommendations.

Thank you
