Let me put it this way. The day I get a letter from NU cannot come fast enough. I took the 16 hour car ride to Evanston (I live in Western MA) to visit the campus. I’ve done my research. I’m pretty set on Northwestern being my number one school. That being said, I would be lying if I failed to mention that Northwestern is also my reach school. Assuming you can see my stats profile, is my assumption correct? Or are my chances better than I believe? Additionally, I applied to Medill, with the hopes of becoming a sports journalist in the newspaper medium. That being said, I know roughly 9% of NU Class of 2011 students are in Medill. Will this small percentage affect my admissions decision at all? Any response would be greatly appreciated.

it shouldn’t, and i believe i’ve heard of kids getting moved to the weinberg pool if medill fills up (they only have so many spots they are allowed to fill to remain certified)

and i wouldn’t necessarily call northwestern a reach for you. you’re right up there: top 5%, decent SATs, journalism/sports-focused ECs. If you had any published work/journalism awards i’d probably even say you had a good shot.
