so what makes it so hard to get into?

Demand vs. available seats.

so not really so much caliber of applicants?

does anyone know the percent of applicants that actually get admitted to medill? not northwestern as a whole university, just the journalism school.

Of course it has to do with the caliber of students. A school is hard to get into when it’s good enough to attract a lot of applicants. The caliber of accepted students increases because the school has more to choose from.
