So far in high school, I have taken classes that were not necessarily considered the easiest but not really considered the most challenging. I have taken the highest level of each core subject except history(took history honors except AP history, some students do while some do not). Despite history, the only 2 levels that were available for each core subject was merit and honors. My school offers 27 AP classes, but only offers 5 to 9th and 10th grade. But most people end up only taking (2 APs, history Aps) in their 10th and 9th grade years due to the number of graduation requirement cIasses. Despite the fact that I didn’t take an AP in the history courses offered, my GC still told me I was taking challening classes. But, I also know that some colleges make their own judgment based on the profile of my school and compare me based on my peers. If I took core classes with a bunch of regular graduation requirement classes/electives, would colleges understand? Will this excuse me from not taking any other APs my 9th and 10th grade year? I do plan to start taking AP classes in junior and senior year and will include the history APs that I missed. I hadn’t realized until the middle of sophomore year that I wasn’t into math and science. But, I know that top schools want to see people taking at least one AP in each core subject. So I plan to take AP Computer science principles and AP Stat. But is AP Computer science principles still a science class?
On the common app, what if I have extracurriculars that my school can’t verify?
Dream Schools: Any UC, Cornell, NYU, Northwestern, Northeastern.
I know this is a lot of questions, but I really need answers.
I cannot contact my GC because she won’t respond until school starts.
