Membership status

Is membership status determined only by the number of posts?

What about other factors:

Amount of time one has been part of the community

Quality of the posts - longer posts with more detail being heavily weighted

Quality of threads started, their # of views, etc

Private message frequency, helping people read essays, helping with with particular questions

And more, I’m sure, can be considered

Sorry if this topic has already been broached. And yes, I realize the factors I’m throwing out there are somewhat difficult to manage. Just some thoughts.

User titles are currently determined by minimum numbers of posts. However, posts made in cafes, which tend to revolve around casual chit-chat, are not included in the post count. You are correct that it could be next to impossible to measure some of the other criteria you mention. In addition, some of this could open itself up to abuse.

Thankfully, the community is generally quick to report members who appear to be “padding their stats” by posting with a high frequency/low quality mentality.

Thanks for the input!
