Is it possible for parents to purchase men’s basketball tickets to a game at Cameron? We are very eager to experience a game in the greatest college basketball venue in the country!

It’s possible, but it is difficult. To begin, Cameron has been entirely sold out for decades. The commercial ticket sites may occasionally have a few tickets available, but they will be VERY expensive. Most non-students sit in Cameron’s upper level, and virtually all tickets there are sold on an annual basis (a $7000, or more, yearly Iron Duke donation likely provides the single year opportunity to pay thousands of additional dollars for one or two season ticket books). With this said, however, here are a few suggestions:

Join the Iron Dukes. In recent years, for some games – even a few ACC games – lower-level standing room tickets have been available to Iron Dukes members, a day or two before the contest. These are bleacher seats, in/near the undergraduate/post-graduate student sections. Further, they are loud, uncomfortable (you never sit down and are packed like sardines) and tough if your legs and back are aged, and much of the action is impossible to see well (due to tall kids surrounding you on all sides). BUT you will experience Cameron as a near-Crazy . . . and that is worth all the inconveniences.

For all ACC games – and for all home contests when Duke is in session – tickets are especially difficult to obtain. However, generally each year there are a couple non-ACC Cameron games during the Christmas Break. These are the most ticket-available home games, but you’ll miss much of the craziness that is Cameron and the opponents are not the most competitive. Nevertheless, to employ a much used and clearly deserved Duke clich

Most people don’t realize how small Cameron is. Total seating capacity is only about 9,500 with roughly 1,500 of those allocated for students.

Rmldad - Not to nitpick, but Cameron is even smaller than you indicate (seating only 9,314) . . . may this NEVER change and may we NEVER opt for a 20,000+ “dome.”
