Men's pants for muscular builds?

S1 has become an avid cross-fitter and has bulked up in the thigh area to the point where his pants no longer fit. He likes colored denim or khaki type pants for weekend wear, but if he buys to fit his actual waist size the legs are tight. Are there any brands with extra “room” in them? He needs pants that come in specific lengths since he inherited the long torso/short leg body type.

Take a look at Bonobos. They have multiple fits and the Athletic and Straight fits could work. Look under Product & Fits for more info.

On Shark Tank a couple of weeks ago, a company called Barbell Apparel was featured. I can’t recall if they got funded, because I wasn’t paying close attention, but I think their line is exactly what you’re looking for. This link also mention barbell jeans. Read the comment section too,

When we were newly married body builder H would rip out all his jeans, especially the corduroy ones. It was killing our budget.

My son has a similar problem, and with all the skinny jean stuff, it can be hard to fit him! Our best solution has been to get stuff tailored at the waist. It’s a few bucks for tailoring, but saves a ton of shopping time, and he can get exactly what he wants.

J Crew Factory has a variety of fits, my athlete son wears Bleeker, I think, which fits him comfortably, though there is one more fit which is more roomy.

I just discovered Old Navy has athletic build jeans and pants. My son with muscular thighs will be unhappy because he prefers a different brand that is over a hundred bucks for men’s jeans… but if they fit and don’t rip out he should at least a try…Old Navy is super cheap too and fits a student budget much better than the brands he prefers.

He says the old navy pants “fit weird”. He loves JCrew, but online they only offer slim & tall. I’ll check the others, but was hoping for something local.

My 20 yo so. Has this same issue. He just purchased pants at both J Crew and Gap this weekend. (For 60% off - go mom’s training!!) at Gap he would have normally got a different style or whatever, but he found one that worked. I think AE also has different fits.

My SIL is an avid cross-fitter, and he just wore a pair of pants (not jeans) from Barbell Apparel on Thanksgiving day. He is very happy with the fit.

My son has the same problem. I read the answers here with great interest.

@AllThisIsNewToMe - This popped up on my computer today and I recalled your post. Hope the link works. It appears to be from GQ and is one of those links where you have to flip through each pic.

I think it’s the Crosby line at JCrew that is meant for muscular builds - their ad campaign featured a rugby team.
