Mention of topic in essay -- taboo?!

With the understanding that Brown is byfar one of the most liberal-minded (not in a political sense) universities out there, would it be safe to mention Chaos Magick in an application essay?

“ome chaos magicians also use psychedelic drugs in a practice known as chemognosticism. Others practice syllogistic manipulation of the endocrine system by use of rituals involving rare biological materials such as giraffe testicles and lemur anal glands, which is known as secretomancy - not to be confused with shhhhsism, the order of secret worshipers of secrets - nor with semenancy (divination through semen splatter pattern interpretation).”

psychedelic drugs? Semen splatter pattern interpretation?

AHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAH FAIL

Hahaha!! Beat thing I’ve ever read. Ever!

Geez, that’s a risk. A school like Brown may admire your ballsiness, but may also find it too weird or crazy (in a bad way). I may just take the safe route and choose a different topic. Then again, people have written essays about their beards and on being naked, so who knows?

How do you plan to approach it?

I just plan on a brief mention of the topic, not necessarily agreeing with its proposed concepts but stressing on the theory it puts forth which states that one’s his own god and the possibility to morphing reality to one’s will?

I think that that could easily be taken the wrong way, I don’t think that theres anyything wrong with saying you’re the master of your own domain, I sort of did that in my own essay and i’m happy with it. But I think that saying that you are your own god and you control every aspect of your own experience because of the magnitutde of your will sounds a little too strong. I think you can present the same idea a little more softly and skip the topic entirely.

Thanks, that helped a lot.

Consider though that with the rapid infiltration of Discordians into positions of power mention of chaos magick may be mandatory by next year…

you want a topic that reflects who you are and how you think…what does that actually reflect about you? forget liberalism or not. pm me.
