Mentioning my priorities

Is it a bad thing mentioning in my essays that in high school I used to put my classes in second plan so I could focus on my things I considered more important (like the extracurriculars) and that I would be willing to keep doing this when in university? (I mean, quitting the university for doing something I consider more important, like Bill Gates or Mark Zuckerberg, for example)

You want to GET IN, not tell them up front that you’ll ditch them for anything else that comes along.

First and foremost, colleges are academic institutions. They exist for the purpose of education.

If you tell them that what they do is not a priority for you, then why on earth would they admit YOU over some kid who does prioritize education?

They want students. They want their students to graduate, in 4 years if at all possible. If you’re up front about the fact that their mission does not match yours, I can’t imagine they’ll find you to be a “good fit” for their school.

So… you want to tell them that you can be counted on to play before work?

Let us know how it works out.

Why don’t you just do the things you find important now?
