Mentioning Stanford for scholarships

In a scholarship essay, would mentioning that I’m going to Stanford help me or hurt me? I’m thinking it could help to show how competitive my application was, but it could also hurt me because they might assume that Stanford has very large financial aid resources (even though my fam didn’t get enough help). Any thoughts?

Mm, alright. Btw, you’re GimmeStanford? I find that incredibly amusing.

Why’d you get banned?

^ahaha nice.

Silly Columbia fanboys ;)

lmao! link me to that thread!

Columbia fanboys can be hilarious… out of the Ivy League/top schools, there’s practically nothing Columbia is known for. yet somehow its the best school in the world. omgz NYC!!

You can mention it. I did in a few of mine, which I’d eventually received. I’d think it’d impress them more than cause them to doubt that you need the scholarship. The first thing they think about Stanford is not that it has vast financial resources, but that it’s a private school, and private schools are expensive. So their reaction is that their money is going to a good cause, i.e. getting you a top education at an expensive school.
