has anybody in here been involved in MENU? if so, in which class did you enroll the first year, 290 or 291? what were your impressions of the classes? any help is awesome, thanks.

I’m also an entering freshman, so I can’t offer any useful opinion, but you could also try checking CTEC, if you haven’t already.

I just got invited and I joined 290. They said 291 was for those “really passionate about math,” which isn’t me. Plus you can check out both classes early on in the year, so you will get to see for yourself. It all sounds pretty lax and easygoing. (Picking/switching/dropping out, I mean, not the classes themselves.)

“Students accepted to Northwestern who received a 4 or higher on the AP Calculus BC exam, or a 5 on the AB exam should receive an invitation to MENU during the summer prior to enrollment.”

hmm, I got a 5 on both and I haven’t gotten an invite. Is it for WCAS only?

well in the FAQ it asked if Medill students could do MENU and they said yes…so it doesn’t seem restricted to WCAS students…but I’m not sure…

did you take the AP Calc exam this year? I took the exam last year and got invited. Maybe they just haven’t received your scores yet.

No, I took Calc BC last year.

It’s definitely not just for WCAS students. I’m in the School of Comm. and I got invited. Krk, are you in McCormick? If so, apparently the curriculum there precludes you from being in MENU.

I would contact them if you are eligible and interested, ASAP since they said they like to know pretty quickly. I have emailed their offices in the past and gotten fast/helpful responses so it shouldn’t be a problem.
