Colleges have no preference towards the SAT or ACT. The ACT is quite different from the SAT. Their are five sections, you get a score from 0-36 in each section, and then the score is calculated by taking the average score of the five sections. The ACT has a science section and includes some more advanced math than the SAT. Their is also no guessing penalty on the ACT, but the penalty is being removed from the new 2016 SAT.

I have to take the new SAT as well, but I am not worried about it because the Collegeboard will realease a prep book, and many other companies will as well. There will be dozens of prep books by the end of the year.

All Ivies require the SAT or ACT, and most of them require SAT Subject Tests as well.
