good question, im also interested in this response

if i get in, my parents won’t let me go unless it ends up being less than 30k with transportation cost included

Take a look at last year’s stats thread. The students accepted up through (about) February were invited to interview for one of the two big merit scholarships: Trustee/full and Presidential/half.
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/642272-stats-only-usc-decisons-2009-a.html?highlight=stats

Basically, you need top stats, top ranks, and/or top talent.

The majority of students invited to interview for USC’s top merit awards (Trustee/Pres) are also accepted to the top universities in the country. If you do some research on those students who were merit candidates last year (see Stats Only link above in cc411’s post), you will find a lot of them ended up attending Ivies, MIT, Stanford, etc. In short, if you have the sort of student profile that will make you competitive to HYSPM, the truth is you will most likely be accepted to USC in general (not counting the film school or music school which have more highly selective and talent based criteria)–but it can be just as difficult to predict who will get USC merit scholarships as it is to predict who will get into Yale–even with fabulous credentials.

If you think you may have a shot, make sure you apply before the first deadline. You have nothing to lose, and you will be notified whether you are being considered for the Trustee or Presidential by the end of Feb.

Good luck.

Can you chance me?

Last Bump…

you look ok for the most part but your SATII math is relatively low for viterbi presidential/trustees. all the ones that i’ve talked to got 800 or very close to it. your physics is low too, but i don’t know the average score for that.

good luck

I am retaking both of those :)

I’m hoping for a 800 on Math II and 750 on Physics.

Your stats seem to be in there for admission- but it’s not a slam dunk or an immediate rejection so it is difficult for anyone to say. Take a look at the latest Freshman Profile-
