as per who?
where can one confirm honors admit triggers more merit?
for everyone? or select few admitted to honors?
amt ranges?
when did this additional merit start to roll out with the honors release being in late february?
That has never been true for Pitt. Honors decisions are released at the time merit awards are complete.
No, they are not related. Merit aid is not tied to honors college.
This year there was a final round of merit awards that happened after Honors was announced. But some of the people who got merit in that round were not admitted to Honors, including my S24. So I am not sure if Honors actually triggered merit, it seemed more just to be two different things that happened close in time.
thatâs what I thought.
thanks for your post to help confirm.
makes complete sense. thanks for sharing and agree it appears to be coincidence vs honors triggering more merit.
Sorry needed more words. More merit goes at the same time honors college is released and goes to both honors and non honors students
Checked yesterday and was given 5k/yr OOS.
What date was on the merit letter?
March 26.
Thx!
A surprise from Pitt today. Got a greeting card in snail mail congratulating D24 on a scholarship but there is no $ amount mentioned in it. D24 is not home right now and i donât have access to the portal to see if there are updates to her financials. FWIW, she got into honors in early March and we gave up hope on any aid.
We checked two nights ago after having given up completely on aid from Pitt. Surprise! There was a new letter in the documents folder with a $10k scholarship. Letter dated 3/19 but I know we looked after that and it wasnât in the documents area.
just discovered a late merit award of $5K. Unfortunately, that doesnât come close to moving the dial.
This is correct. My D18 (received admission into DHC - Biology) is invited for this Chancellors interview. They mentioned to conclude all interviews by mid April. However, to our surprise she recently received a letter (dated Apr 1) in the document center mentioning $5K/year merit scholarship, which is unusual or rather contradicting to her receiving the Chancellors interview, which is yet to happen! Not able to understand the pattern here!
Is it right that Pitt fee for sciences undergrad is 50k plus for OOS? That too with like a 5k scholarship, it makes it an expensive choice?
Here are their costs:

And yes, all-in it is well over $50K, over $60K for some schools.
