Merit Aid

I will be applying as a freshman to UCLA for the fall of 2016. I am Out of State, so the tuition costs really scare me. I don’t think I will be getting much money through the FAFSA, so I was wondering what type of Merit Aid UCLA gives, and whether I am automatically considered for it or if I have to apply for it. Could someone also let me know if I would be a candidate for merit aid with my stats? For reference I will be applying to the engineering school.

For OOS applicant: ZERO

if your parents can’t comfortably afford to spend $200K to send you to UCLA that it is not realistic financially for you.

There are very few merit scholarships available for OOS students. UCLA regents is awarded to around the top 1.5% of applicants and amounts to about $2000/year. http://www.rssla.org/about/scholarship/

I would run the net price calculator for UCLA. At the minimum expect to pay the $24K/year OOS supplemental tuition and fees and the maximum at $55K/year.
