<p>Is the U really as stingy with merit money as their website makes out? It seems as though they hardly give any that isn’t also tied to need.</p>
<p>I was top 6% of the class with a string of activities, etc. and received no merit aid (nor really any need aid depending on how you define it…)</p>
<p>On the other hand, some of my friends who have lower GPAs than I do and did not take as many activities, leadership roles, etc. received maybe even a little merit aid. I’m not sure if this was tied to financial need, and for some of them it probably was (even though one friend I had with a lower GPA, less activities, etc. got a small academic scholarship but I’m pretty sure had more or less the same financial situation as I…).</p>
<p>So really, yes they are stingy, IMO.</p>
