Merit Fafsa & Grant questions. Help?

A State University has offered a partial Merit scholarship. I am wanting to know if I submit the fafsa & receive a pell grant will that replace the Merit? I could not see any info on the school’s site to suggest so. Even a small Pell grant would put me over the cost of tuition with the Merit scholarship.

Do the colleges see the SS# of all family members used on the tax return? I have not filled out a fafsa yet, 1) not required for Merit 2) Needing to finish taxes.

A Pell Grant is an entitlement. It would be added to your merit scholarship.

Pell can be used for room and board.

As far as I know the only soc sec #s on the FAFSA are the student’s and parents’.
