Merit Scholarship and Honors Chances

What are my chances for Merit Scholarships and Honors Programs (Anywhere from $1000 a year or such to more) at these schools, just based off a quick overview?;

SAT: 2260 (740 CR, 740 M, 780 W)
GPA: 3.9, 94.2% (Upward Trend: 9th; 92, 10th; 94, 11th: 97.2)
Unweighted Rank: 49/450
13 APs by Graduation (A’s/A+'s in All AP Courses)
Leadership EC’s (Such as Student Body President, President of a few clubs, Boys State, etc.), Some are national level and some are unique (Hard to explain, but are political-based)

Merit-Scholarship Chance Schools:

Drexel University
University of Pittsburgh
Fordham University
American University
George Washington University
RPI
Fordham University
University of Delaware

Thanks!

Just based directly off statistics, I seem to be in good shape for them (The GWU Rep. told me 2100 was the average SAT of Honors College recpients)(Delaware has a 97% acceptance rate to the honors college for people with an A GPA and 2250+ SAT - they have only 28 2250+ SAT students for the last year out of an incoming honors class of 400+)(Drexel’s Average AJ Drexel Scholarship recipient has a 3.75 GPA and around a 1320 SAT). Most of them don’t consider class rank in most of their scholarships and honors programs, but I’m still a little wondering about that though, so I’d like to get a more holistic take on it rather than just comparing direct statistics.

Based on numbers, I would be shocked if you didnt get some merit money from these schools… but many schools base it on majors and how well of a fit you are and essay and such. What are your reach schools?

Are you the medalist from your school for RPI?

you must really like Fordham, NY_Democrat, you listed the school twice :slight_smile: I think your chances for merit money are really good at Fordham and Pitt. Can’t really say for the others, not that familiar with their merit programs.

@J_DT: Thanks - a few of my reaches (though I did not list them because since they are reaches, I know already they’ll be tough) are JHU, Cornell, NYU Stern, University of Chicago, those types.

@chubeebo: Haha yea thanks for pointing that out - typo. I do like Fordham a lot though, esp. its Lincoln Center campus.

@tocollege: Sadly, no : (

Thanks for all the replies so far!

American- D got $20K with lower stats…but great leadership (student gov’t pres., etc.). She did not make honors with a 2130, however. Cutoff last year was extremely high and they stuck to it. May have been 2200+. Check with them.

GW- D got into honors, but did not get any merit $ through that. She did get $15K in talent merit aid though.

I would say you are likely to receive merit offers from all of the other schools in the $10K plus range.

Good luck!

PS- D is at NYU with merit aid, but it is talent based (music). Unfortunatley, don’t expect anything from Stern.
