Merit scholarship and its role in admission

would Merit Scholarship play a role in one’s college admission, i cant seem to figure out the importance of such event.

Huh? Of course it would play a role. Especially if you’re from a poor-middle class background. Merit aid was one of my top reasons for going Wash U.

I think she means national merit scholarship?

ahhhhh …ok…that makes sense :-)

I’m only commended, but my SATs/ACTs are higher than most finalists at my school. I screwed up the psat.

I don’t think it plays a major role, especially if you have high real SATs/ACTs…

it can only help you… depends what your other stats are. if they’re not-so-stellar, it might not be enough, but if they’re pretty good, it might be that extra something that gets you in.

it also depends on the school. at colleges where tons of ppl have amazing SATs., perfect GPAs, etc. it definitely won’t play much of a role because admissions see it all the time
