I think the merit scholarship is just for engineering, because that program has a special endowment, but I’m not 100% sure so may want to check with SFS. I’ve never heard of special science only merit scholarships outside of the engineering one.

Thanks, S&P. That was actually my recollection too but a) I didn’t want to trust what passes for my memory these days and b) it was possible things may have changed.

I was just looking for a quick-and-dirty answer, may wade through SFS if/when I have time.

TD, is there the possibility of a STRIDE for a potential neuroscience major as well? I recall there were psych research projects on the list, so maybe there could be one for neuroscience. Maybe check with Prof. de Villiers? After all, both husband and wife are psych profs and he’s the head of the STRIDE program. And correct me if I’m wrong, but I think Mini’s daughter created her own STRIDE project, so maybe that could happen again.

Well, to be more correct, they created a STRIDE project specifically to fit her needs and interests (and it worked! it propelled her into graduate school!)

There is also the AEMES program, which includes a scholarship and/or stipend (I’m not sure of the details) and it is for groups underrepresented in the sciences.

Oh, I know about STRIDE’s. Was wondering if there was anything else this student could hope for. I don’t think this student belongs to a underrepresented group beyond “female.”
