mesmer scholarship

I opened my financial aid info tonight on the WUStL pathway and received a Mesmer Scholarship. Does anyone know what this is? Is it renewable each year? Thanks for any input.

It’s basically a financial aid package. They call it a scholarship to make it retractable if need be (if your family income rise above what your current situation is now). It’s renewable every year and you should get more or less the same amount of money every year unless your family’s income changes significantly.

^We called the FA office to ask what it was. It’s basically a need-based scholarship. My son’s was very generous. We’re grateful.

… But, on the other hand, when his siblings graduate from college, the “scholarship” amount will decrease accordingly (after filing for the next year’s FA). And if I take another job, to lighten my financial burden and make life a little easier, the “scholarship” amount will decrease accordingly.

So, while we’re grateful, and while we may take this generous offer, it is not a merit award, and it may come and go over the next 4 years.
