I’m a male indian living in New Jersey going to an ultra-competitive school. I moved to this area right before 9th grade and left a school where I thrived both socially and academically. Adjusting was very difficult for me and even though I did decent throughout the school year, I completely imploded in the last 2 weeks. I went from having all A’s and 1 B to having 3 A’s and 4 B’s in a matter of weeks. These are not quarter grades but year grades. So I finished freshman year with a 3.45 Unweighted and 4 weighted GPA. I then worked as hard as I could possibly work and I finished with all A’s sophmore year and all A’s junior year with 1 B. I have amazing extra curriculars and I will be paying full tuition but I’m still destroyed over freshman year. Including all 3 years, I have a 3.75 UW GPA and 4.5 WW GPA. Will I still have a chance at top schools? Is there any way I can explain my grades freshman yr since they were good for the first 3 quarters but horrible for quarter 4? I need all the advice I can get and I would really appreciate it.
Also, I have taken a very rigorous course-load and there is grade deflation in my high school since its a large public school thats very competitive.
