Does anyone here use an insert for ball of foot pain? I’m overwhelmed by the options online
Would love a recommendation.

Paging @Knowsstuff
It’s hard to pick one without knowing what it actually is. Lots of trial and error. Might want to go with a full shoe insert cushion first that you can get locally and see if that helps. But I would go to a local Podiatrist if still having pain. Want to rule out stress fractures and Neuroma (pinched nerve) if it doesn’t get better. Sometimes icing several times a day and some anti-inflammatory can do the trick
Thank you!
If the issue is mortons neuroma, you need to pad just behind the ball of the foot, so that as you step, the bones of the ball are spread, rather than compressed. Other options are steroid injection and the definitive fix is removal of the nerve, but the recovery can be long and hard. Morton's neuroma - Wikipedia
If you want to try a cheap fix possibility. Check out Happy Step inserts on Amazon (yellow on the bottom). They are memory foam and made my new boots feel so much better. About $10. 1 Pair Happystep Comfort Memory
Hope it’s not anything too serious.
The very informative and helpful Section Hiker website recommend this one (it has worked so far): Emsold Ultra Thin Orthotic with Metatarsal Pad and Deep Heel Cup – Semi-Rigid Arch Support Insole for Men and Women – Relieves Pain from Plantar Fasciitis, Morton’s Neuroma and Metatarsalgia https://a.co/d/71uPwRm
Eons ago when I saw an ortho for a runners knee injury, she gave me a heel insert made by this company and their flyer featuring all sorts of inserts:
I’d start with their products.
Wanted to follow up and thank you again. My typical behavior is to ignore things that are only a bit bothersome, and then regret it when they become problematic. So, on your advice, I ended up getting in to a podiatrist this morning. Thankfully, nothing serious (sesamoiditis). Taking a break from tennis and pickleball, icing and taking an anti-inflammatory for two weeks. Hoping it resolves quickly.
Your welcome. Good for you. Voltaren works well also a few times a day BTW. Rub it in deeply
I had a Morton’s Neuroma removed last February and found it not nearly as bad as bunion surgery.
I have not had the privilege of bunion surgery, but it took me 2 to 3 months before i could walk after mortons neuroma removal, and i had pain for over a year.
I use the Hapad heel inserts. You can get them on Amazon also. But it looks like they are less costly through Hapad…I did not check shipping…
