Methodist University, Fayetteville NC

I am a junior from the small town of Lumberton, North Carolina about an hour and a half from Raleigh.

I have nice grades, great extracurriculars, and I’ve even been accepted into the North Carolina Governor’s School for English. I have great chances of getting into the larger universities in the state like NCSU, ASU, and ECU. However, since I’ve gotten older I have wanted to stay closer to home and my parents. My desire to attend a big university has dwindled.

I have been looking at universities close to home and the one that I am most interested in is Methodist University about thirty minutes away in Fayetteville. The requirements look pretty easy, so I have no doubt that I will get in. I’ve grown up in a traditional, Conservative Christian family so the religious affiliation of the school is definitely a plus.

Since I was eight years old, I have known I wanted to go to medical school at UNC and become a doctor. So my question is: since MU isn’t very competitive, will that hurt my chances of getting into UNC SOM? I need complete honesty, not just a biased opinion from an alum that will say anything to get me to go there.

Thanks so much!
