Metro North parking-- Fairfield?

D and I are heading into NYC for a couple of days after finals…I generally park in the Bridgeport garage and take Metro North into the city. But I’m worried about space mid-morning at this time of year. Does anyone know about the new parking lot in Fairfield? (Fairfield metro stop)? I thought we might try that–it’s so new I was thinking there might be plenty of room.

Or is there a better plan that I’m missing? We live in MA so I’m not too familiar with Metro North. Thank you!

When are you going? I live in Fairfield and H was a long time commuter. I literally work just across from the ‘old’ Fairfield train station. I prefer that one - much more populated area at night than either Bpt or the new metro station. The new one is HUGE so I imagine there are plenty of available day spots. You will have to pay for a day spot at either station. Make sure you only use the day parking spots. The ticket for using the permit spots is $$$.

We’re going mid-day Monday and coming back mid-day Wed. Does “day parking” mean you can’t stay overnight? In that case we need to hope for Bridgeport.

No, you can stay overnight but you’ll get a day parking ticket each day. Let me take a look around mid-day tomorrow and I’ll let you know how it looks.

Wow-- thank you! CC comes through in the most amazing ways. I really appreciate it!

Sure thing. I wouldn’t be too crazy about parking my car overnight in Bpt!

bumping this so it will be easier to find Woody! Thank you!

Hi Gwen…ok here’s the scoop.
Use the new station. It apparently has many more spots available on a daily basis. Quite frankly , I can’t see ANY at the ‘old station’ from my window now! The limit is 3 days in a row. The cost is $6/d. You must park in ‘day parking’ spots. They will put a ticket on your car every morning - you can mail it in or pay by phone.
Most importantly, the schedules are the same to and from Fairfiedl/Fairfield metro and Grand Central.
Have fun and let me know if you need more info!

Thank you so much Woody!! Phew, glad to know this. Have a wonderful holiday!
