I heard this on the radio. I haven’t read the article yet, but for some reason or other I was looking at obesity rates a few years ago and Samoa (noted for large people) and I believe the wealthy Arab oil states… Dubai perhaps? Qatar? had the highest incidence of obesity. Is this a different measurement?

The U.S. diet is unhealthy. I’ll take Latin beans, kabocha squash, taro root and mangoes over a whopper and fries any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Makes me wonder if it could be in part genetic. I know that Native Americans especially from desert areas) have high rates of diabetes and obesity with a western diet, due in part that they had to survive regular famines. Also, much of their food had what is now called a high glycemic index.

Mexican Americans in the U.S. are twice as likely to be diabetic than non-hispanic whites in the U.S., also degree of American Indian ancestry is a known risk factor.

I was curious as I semi-recently saw a report listing Tonga as the world’s fattest… but this report is only including “populous” nations. Who knows how many others didn’t make that cut.

We truly are slipping and losing our edge even with cutting the competition by not letting them compete.

Twinkies and other hostess snacks aren’t enough!

We need to insist that instead of fast food joints offering quarter pounders, they need to start offering quarter-tonners as suggested by one alien from the movie “Spaced Invaders”. :D

The world is tired of the US and it’s superpower status. It is time for a more egalitarian system where all are as one. This is a nice BIG (Mac) step in that direction. ;)
