Mexico & College Spring Break

The State Department puts out a warning for Mexico and yet that appears the place to be. With a solid 5% chance of a nightmare, why the risk? The State Dept. specifically stated Cabo San Lucas and Cancun. It’s like the bad guys are just drooling for the impending arrival of drunken college kids. I don’t like to think I’m a worry wart but simple common sense tells me it’s not a good idea.

d is at day 4 of trip to Cancun…totally group organized activities, with adult supervision and she is 22…

I asked her about the above? She responded, “Cancun is a beautiful city; so surprised”

Bottom line: if you act safe, in a group, don’t go off on your own, should be fine…

Btw, there is another thread discussing this from about a month ago…

In reference to your post: each parent has to decide what is right for their family… At 22, my daughter had already travelled all over Europe by herself before this…knows the deal

Now, would I send an 18 yr old? Heck, no…but my 18 yr old doesn’t “get it” sometimes…not worth the 5% risk

OP: While I agree that Mexico travel makes me nervous, The State Dept. warning (from Feb. 8) says NO warning is in effect for Cabo.

It was the Texas Dept. of Public Safety that specified the resort communities. I have a little more faith in the TX DPS than the Feds when it comes to Mexico. Hope everyone stays well.
