Miami University (OH) Early Action / Early Decision Class of 2030 Official Thread

This is the official thread for those applying EA/ED to Miami University - Ohio.

List your unweighted GPA, any SAT /ACT scores, and ECs. What majors are you going into?
Ask your questions, the CC community is here to help!

EA applicant

Unweighted GPA 3.85, test optional.
Strong ECs: Research, Volunteering
Major Biology (probably)

Wow, it’s empty here, lol.

D26 applied EA – she wants to do Games & Simulation, but that requires an additional video by Nov 1. She has yet to pull that together. If she doesn’t, her application will default to Emerging Technology & Business (Games is a subset of that larger major).

Weighted GPA 99.19, SAT 1560, National Merit SF

ECs are lots of marching band with leadership, plus symphonic and jazz bands, honor band, etc. Also theatre, costumes plus on-stage roles. Couple other service-related things. Most ECs are arts-related.

I’d say Miami is among her top four programs!

Thank you! Best of luck to your daughter, too! I know she applied to quite a lot of schools – if cost is acceptable, how high does Miami rank on her list?

She really likes it on paper(it’s above a lot of her reaches). She has an overnight visit in November -so that should give her a good idea of the vibe. I’ve been to visit (for a conference) and I think it’s pretty fantastic.
She’s planning on being a Biology major.

I stumbled across an old post of yours from early this year, when your daughter was possibly considering communication disorders leading to speech-language pathology? Did she decide against that path?

I ask because my older daughter, who is a current college senior, is applying to speech-language pathology masters programs for next fall. But because her undergrad degree is in linguistics, she has to do an extra year of grad school – three years instead of two – to complete her “leveling” requirements. Which is a whole lot more expensive, of course.

Just FYI. If SLP is still a strong possibility for your D26, then I’d encourage her to consider communication disorders for undergrad again!

Yes -she decided against that path. She’s really been enjoying research in Biology– so she wants to continue with that for now.
