I don’t think so, my S25 was accepted to the Honors College and only got the 19K.
My son was accepted. 3.85/4.35; 32 ACT, Eagle, heavy music, 9 APs. Biochem/Premed, accepted to Honors, consideration for Presidential and says we will know in Jan. He also applied as a dual major in Music and has an audition in Jan. $10k scholarship. In state. He is super excited, Honors was the big part for him. It’s the top of the list at the moment depending on Cinci, Denison and Case.
It sounds likes if you are accepted to Honors but don’t get the Presidential, you are likely to get a bump in your regular scholarship.
When applying for admission, students may indicate their interest in the Honors College, which features the Presidential Fellows Program (PFP), a highly competitive scholarship for fifteen top students in the Honors College per year that covers tuition, fees, housing, and food and includes a $5,000 academic enrichment stipend, and the Prodesse Scholarship, a $2,000 award for top students admitted to the Honors College who aren’t also Presidential Fellows.
OOS S25 accepted to the school of Architecture with $5k/yr.
3.3uw/3.4w GPA. A couple of honors courses and AP studio art, but has mostly taken accelerated level courses (his school goes grade level, then accelerated, then honors, then AP). He took a 1:1 tour and met with the head of the department (which I guess was sort of an impromptu interview), also submitted a portfolio. He really shines in interviews and he has been told that his portfolio is strong, so these likely both played a large roll in his acceptance.
Still waiting on several schools (I wish more schools allowed him to submit his portfolio/interview!), but I am excited for him!
Our student was admitted, but not to the intended major. Reeks of pompous, “‘public ivy’ we-know-better, bring your OOS dollars but you can’t study what you want”.
Next up…
D25 (biochem, OOS) received $25K annual Redhawk Excellence scholarship and acceptance to the honors college. Other schools of high interest are Pitt and Case but Miami’s price is less than half. Concerned about lack of clinical opportunities for pre-med but love Oxford.
Do you mind posting SATs/grades? Wondering if it’s possible for my daughter to increase her scholarship amount. Thanks!
Sure. 4.0 uw; 1460 SAT; some AP’s; many xc’s. She’d also be the fourth generation to attend Miami although I don’t believe legacy is something they consider.
Thanks and congrats!
This happened to our student at another school. Admitted, WITH A SCHOLARSHIP, but not to the major she requested.
S25 in to Farmer, $14k/year merit offered. Izzy74 was right - don’t assume the charts on the school’s website show the top end of what your kid might be awarded. Miami’s still probably 2 or 3 on the list of schools to which he’s been admitted, but minds can change, of course. Good luck to all, and to the couple parents of in-state deferrals upthread, your kids were definitely yield control!
S25 also received an email from admission last night offered him a guaranteed admission to the combined degree at Farmer. Can earn bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in four years and bypass GRE or GMAT with overall undergraduate GPA of 3.5 or higher with a 3.0 GPA in program-specific courses.
My son did as well! Very attractive option.
Congrats. I think I’ve seen your name in other business school posts as well. It’s nice to have some options. We are waiting for a few more decisions.
SMU today! Not sure if you’re waiting for that one too. I have to say though, Miami is a very attractive option. Between the Honors College, direct admit to the Entrepreneurship co major and now the Masters option…getting hard to beat.
My daughter was accepted to Honors 25k scholarship, PFP consideration. OOS Class rank 1/520, 5.676 GPA, 1360 SAT, varsity athlete, deep involvement in multiple EC, all 4/5 on AP, legacy, attended Miami Summer Scholars last July on full merit scholarship. Psychology/Neuroscience major
Rise Up RedHawks!
Anyone receive Presidential Fellows finalist? My son received a rejection email last night.
My son also did not get selected for the Presidential Fellow Program.
Wrong thread sorry.
