Thank You! Congratulations to your daughter!!

DS is in! OOS. Honors college with money. His letter says presidential scholarship gets decided later. Do all letters say that? This is his first acceptance, so we are really happy!

DD who was accepted for Farmer, Honors College, w/$20k merit: OOS, 4.1w/1300, 9 APs and good ECs/Community Service.

TBH, Miami not at the top of her list but I would be thrilled if she attended.

Son accepted with $16K scholarship to Speech Pathology and Audiology, Honors and Presidential deferred (although we thought these were both longshots to begin with).

OOS
3.867 on a 5.0
1 AP (Music Theory) and 60 DE credits (will have Associates by May)
No test scores submitted
Rank: Top 30% out of 400 students
Extras: Lots of band, film, and theater at varying levels (professional, school, community) with state ranking in trombone and voice, varsity cross country, minor community service, student ambassador role with record-breaking school fundraising drives, D&D enthusiast, compelling ā€œcomebackā€ story after a debilitating medical issue, and a decent essay.

Miami is not at the top of his list, but I really liked the school. We needed a bit more money to make it financially-feasible.

Son applied and accepted EA to Comp Engineering
$16K annual merit
3.8 GPA no scores submitted

We never visited the campus so Im curious what people thought who did. His top choices for campuses visited were UPitt, UMass & James Madison. He didn’t get into PSU State College, but was accepted to a branch Campus. Also didn’t get into Ohio State.

S24 accepted as Political Science major in the College of Arts and Science and to Honors College w/ $25K merit
-3.93 UW/4.76 W
-1330 SAT
-20th out of 834 student class (very diverse public school)
-8 APs, 9 honors courses, 1 dual enrollment

Our son’s letter said the same–he was being considered for presidential scholarship that would be determined later

My son didn’t want an urban campus, so he didn’t like PITT (but did like Case Western?). He LOVED UMass Amherst, though more for the vibe and the food than for the campus, and he cut JMU off after spending several summers there (marching band camp) and feeling like the cafeteria was too far from the dorms (no lie).

In the end, he wants an enclosed rural or suburban campus with the added bonus of a cute small town down the way. Miami Ohio is a gorgeous campus, but it’s definitely not urban (like PITT) or sprawling (like JMU). I think it’s worth a visit, though. It gave off JMU-like vibes.

Good luck!

Did your son apply to CWRU? Mine did and we are anxiously awaiting their EA release on the 19th.

He actually didn’t. After his fourth visit, he figured if he couldn’t yet decide, that meant, ā€œNo.ā€ It was on the list until the end, though! Good luck to yours! It’s a great school.
