DD got in with $21k merit scholarship and considered for honors. I have to be honest - I was kind of surprised she didn’t directly get into honors! Miami was really a safety school for her. This is the first school she heard from.
- 4.1 unweighted GPA.
- 3 APs last year (5 this year).
- All non-AP classes are honors classes
- School doesn’t do class rank and doesn’t really do awards except for book/college awards to some juniors- she was one of 8 kids (out of 45) to get an award last year
- Test optional
- 4 years varsity basketball (captain 2 years), 4 years boys varsity golf (coaches award and most improved award), 2 years of intense physical therapy due to ACL tears (this was a time consuming activity)
-Student government - Class secretary 4 years
- Work outside school
- Founded and president of school club

Those are really impressive stats–I’d be surprised too by not being directly admitted to the Honors College. Hopefully she gets admitted soon!

Wondering what other in state scholarship offers have been.
The only one of those we visited was Pitt.
Such a different experience visiting Miami. We drove through miles and miles of corn fields on narrow country roads as we neared the campus. The campus was fairly large and open feeling (iirc the tour was over 2 miles), the dorms were better layout/size than many of the other public schools we visited (not sure how they compare to Pitt because our tour was not able to see a dorm room due to some administrative issue). Our tour guide was great, and the facilities and grounds seemed well kept. They really love their hockey.
If his favorite campus was Pitt, I would definitely visit Miami if it ends up being a top choice on paper. Pitt and Miami tend to be love 'em or hate 'em kind of campuses, and I’m not sure the same kid would love both (D24 ended up wanting a more defined campus than Pitt, but loved Miami even with its relatively isolated location).

We’re in-state. Direct admit into Farmers with $5k scholarship. Waitlisted for Honors but he won’t be disappointed if he doesn’t get it - he would rather live with Creative Arts LLC.
His stats are lower - 32/1450 and ‘only’ a 3.75 weighted GPA.

accepted OOS into biomedical engineering and honors college. 25k/yr redhawk excellence scholarship. letter also mentioned being considered for presidential fellows program. 34 ACT, 4.0 UW, NMSF, national level athlete, pt job at pharmacy, VP of HOSA, other school club leadership, science research, community service, etc.

We are between MSU and Miami and visited both. Miami is a gorgeous campus but isolated. You need to love the campus as well as the location in my opinion. My son is looking to go back to re-visit Miami now that he has been accepted.

Did anyone get an email inviting them to scholars showcase on feb 18-19 for the presidential fellows program? i got one yesterday around 7 something cst
anyone know what this weekend entails?

My S24 also received the same invitation email a few days ago to attend the showcase.
I also couldn’t find much information on details of the events. However, from an old reddit thread someone mentioned there are two group events and one individual interview. Probably lots of mingling and activities to get to know the students, and also let the students know more about the school and the Honor College.
