MICA neighborhood

One more question about the MICA surroundings. What I heard is that the campus is great but the surrounding area is rough. How rough are we talking? Like, don’t go there even during the day rough? Or don’t go there at night at all? Or okay in a group? Thanks.

By surrounding area i’m assuming you mean northwest of the campus?

I’d say… okay during the day, great with a partner, ok cautiously with a group at night. But… you wouldn’t want to go there at night because there’s nothing there anyway.

because south of us is downtown b-more, and to the east is the Station North district and Charles Village (JHopville) where there is like, Ottobar, Load of Fun Gallery, et al. Usually there are big groups of people going in those directions for events, or people take cabs.

Keep in mind there are shuttles that pick up and drop off students at residences within Bolton Hill & Mt. Vernon between 5pm and 4 am. (Also, the 24 hr rite aid, which is awesome for a 3 am ice cream run)

Thanks Patois –

I think I have had the wrong idea that the MICA campus was completely surrounded by a difficult area. What you are saying is that in one direction it’s not so good, in the other direction it’s fine. Do I have that right?

yeah, basically everywhere you would WANT to go at night is fine.
