<p>Although I was not a big fan of his latest books, I really liked his earlier works.</p>

<p>So sad-- I love his stuff. Condolences to the family. Did he ever practice medicine after graduating from harvard medical school??</p>

<p>^^No, he went directly from medical school into writing. He never did a residency nor was he ever licensed to practice medicine.</p>

<p>He spoke at the USC med campus after Coma was a success. I was in pharmacy school then and the Med school brought him. He encouraged us all to do our best and treat patients with respect and humanity. While I preferred his early books, I always read his latest. I think reading his books reminded me of what a great person he seemed to be. Makes no sense but that’s what I did. Perhaps it reminded me of when I was young and wanted to be perfect and help save the world.</p>

<p>Coma is the title of a book by Robin Cook, M.D. What a chilling read!!! Those bodies in the locker, I’ll just never forget that scene. And it wasn’t a terrifying story a la Stephen King, just riveting action.</p>

<p>I don’t think Michael Crichton wrote a different book about comas.</p>

<p>I liked certain Michael Crichton books. Sad news.</p>

<p>I used to work in the building where Coma was filmed. I think that it was either in Lexington or Waltham, MA. It was a very odd building.</p>

<p>I didn’t know that he wrote the Andromeda Strain until I read his obit yesterday.</p>

<p>The obit also said he had been married five times (and had one child.) Interesting how the personal lives of the tremendously talented are often messy.</p>

<p>Unfortunately his passing was overshadowed by a “certain other event” that happened on November 4th. A shame.</p>
