Michael Jackson is Dead

[Will Obama Make A Statement On Jackson? - Political Hotsheet - CBS News](http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2009/06/26/politics/politicalhotsheet/entry5116655.shtml)

I guess I’m not the only one wondering if Obama will make a statement about Michael’s death. What a minefield.

I don’t see why Obama would make a statement about Michael Jackson’s death (or Farrah Fawcett’s) one way or the other. What can he really say beyond that MJ was a great musician and entertainer and we wish the family well. It’s not Obama’s place to start re-litigating the child molestation accusations.

I don’t see any reason for Obama to make a statement about MJ either. It’s not as if a head of state has died.

I agree. Michael Jackson wasn’t a head of State, or even an unofficial ambassador for The United States. This does not call for a “Statement from The President”. Honestly, who thinks it makes sense for Obama to single out this particular celebrity death for official comment?

If the President is asked by a reporter about either Michael or Farrah’s deaths, it would be appropriate to offer condolences to the family. That’s absolutely it.

It doesn’t say much about my faith in mega-superstars, but this was the first thing I thought of when I heard he’d died. I’d be willing to bet money there’s a drug issue involved, even if it’s prescription. I also heard he’d become anorexic looking, which can also be physically damaging to the heart. I think if they release the full autopsy report, we will find out many things about him that we never knew.

"
A doctor who has apparently gone missing after treating Michael Jackson before his sudden death is being sought by the Los Angeles police and coroner’s office.

Police said they had impounded the doctor’s car after it was left outside Jackson’s rented Bel Air mansion. A police spokesman said they wanted to talk to the doctor because he had not signed a death certificate, which is normal procedure for an attending physician.

With an autopsy under way, speculation is mounting that the 50-year-old star’s death may be linked to his longstanding use of painkillers. Family friends have confirmed he was taking drugs to help him deal with the physical stress of preparing for a major concert tour. Media reports have suggested a doctor injected him with a morphine-like drug a few hours before he collapsed and went into cardiac arrest."

The fact that the homicide detectives are desperately trying to contact his personal physician – who was with him at the time of his collapse, and who is currently missing in action – does not sound like a positive thing. The police even towed the physician’s car from Michael’s house earlier today. One would think that this doctor would have stepped up from the get go to assist the police and any other pertinent officials with any information he might be able to give. Now there’s the appearance that he has absconded for whatever reason.

(Northstarmom it looks like we were writing at the same time!)

"children she bore for Michael Jackson.

It has been widely reported Debbie Rowe gave up her parental rights to Paris and Michael Jr. That is not true.

During the custody fight that Rowe had with Jackson in 2005, she attempted to give up her parental rights, saying Michael was the greatest father ever. Retired Judge Stephen Lachs, who presided over the hearing, initially ruled her rights were terminated … but then Lachs reversed his decision."

I hesitate to write this since the man just died, but how could those children be biologically his? They may be legally since he was married to the children’s mother, but from the few pictures published of them, they are white. Why has nobody ever questioned this?

What kind of custody fight was this?!!

Unlike stepping up to gain custody rights of Anna Nicole Smith’s baby who will have gobs of money someday, there probably won’t be much advantage to stepping up for Michael Jackson’s kids. It’s hard to believe that the estate has more assets than debts to pay off.

LOL. Someone just posted this same issue on another message board and she was flamed mercilessly. We aren’t supposed to wonder how a man who used to have fairly dark skin and African-American features could produce kids who look 100% caucasian.

[Jackson lived like king but died awash in debt - Yahoo! News](http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090626/ap_on_bi_ge/us_michael_jackson_inc)
On the news last night they were talking about the folks that bailed him out of his financial messes. Apparently some recently advanced large sums with the expectation that they’d be repaid from the proceeds of his 50 concert series in London. And we thought the stock market was a bad investment…

Regarding Debbie Rowe…I was under the impression that she had relinquished her parental rights, but that when Michael was involved in the child molestation trial she went to court and had them reinstated, but that she has never had any contact with the children as a result. As far as the children are concerned, she apparently is a complete stranger to them and have been told that they only have a father.

Well, anyone here can feel free to flame me over an open spit, but I’ve actually wondered the exact same thing. There aren’t many photographs of Micheal’s children circulating, but the one’s I’ve seen show them to be blond and white skinned. I know he had long claimed to be suffering from vitiligo, but I doubt the same can be said of his children.

I also doubt they could have inherited facial features provided by plastic surgery.

The children look nothing like him, and seem to have had a bizarre upbringing that might have resulted in visits from CPS if he hadn’t have been a celebrity.

"
Debbie Rowe, a nurse whom he met during a dermatological consultation, and who became his second wife, said she agreed to bear children for him because he was so desperate to be a father.

Jackson would pace the corridors of his Neverland home cradling baby dolls and talking to them, such was his yearning for a child of his own.

When they married in 1996, she was seven months pregnant with Prince.

Rowe told an ex-lover she had agreed to try for a baby using artificial insemination as a “favour to a friend”, though she did not name the “friend”.

Jackson has repeatedly denied that his blue-eyed son, born in February 1997, was the product of artificial insemination.

He was “made the natural way”, he told interviewer Martin Bashir.

Rowe went on to give birth to Paris Michael Katherine the following year, even though she continued to live apart from Jackson and her son.

It seems to have been more of an arrangement than a marriage.

Jackson has admitted that he “snatched” Paris from the delivery table within seconds of her birth and “took her home with the placenta all over her”.

He giggled during an interview at the memory of how excited he was to have another baby, seemingly unaware of how disturbing his behaviour had been.

The upbringing of these two children was, from the first, every bit as disturbing as his own dysfunctional childhood.

They were not allowed to associate with other children, and did not attend school or nursery.

Instead, their father was with them day and night. He would do everything for them, watching cartoons with them and singing them nursery rhymes. He also shared their room. "

Now dark-haired. No longer blonde, like mom. But definitely appear caucasian.

They were described this morning on one of the morning shows as having lived a very nomadic life and having never been to school or really associated with other children. I wonder if they know their cousins at all.

We can speculate all we want. Without DNA testing, there is no way any can tell for sure. I know a number of mixed race kids who don’t show a trace of the dominant race or color. Heck, my family is an example of this. A close friend of mine who is married to someone who is African American has two kids with straight hair, light skin and don’t look like they have any black in them whereas her H’s children from his first marriage are immediately identifiable as black.
