So my son was there from 2017-2021. His famous line is" we all struggle together "… He also started a tech organization on campus and Michigan couldn’t of been more supportive with their time and money.
Mostly he found that everyone works together and is helpful. Never felt it competitive and he came from a very competitive high school. There is every source for your student to be successful. It’s up to your student to seek that out and very highly recommended to do so.
Never heard the word, cut throat. But, it’s a very hard school. Even for the best students. There are definitely classes that are cut classes. But my son and his friends didn’t feel that way. Most of his friends were all great student’s at their schools but ya kinda need to be also. He really wanted to go to a college where everyone was sorta at the same level. He found that at Michigan. Keep in mind everyone takes the basic courses together. So you’re taking physics with physics majors and pre Med student’s. Etc etc.
Let me know if you need more information and you can Pm me also anytime. Good luck to your student.
Last thing. So many opportunities. So many. Companies come to seek out Michigan kid’s. Long story but my son is 1.5 years still in Sweden working for an international company that came to Michigan to get some of their student’s. It is a 4 year ELDP program.
Alumni is a real thing if you take advantage of it.
