<p>I was accepted EA CoE, and was just sent a postcard - an invitation to the CoE Leadership Weekend. I registered yesterday and an email came right away prompting me to arrange for my flight as an OOS (free

<p>Does anyone have insight to this program, its selectivity, or details?</p>

<p>Iām OOS and was also accepted EA to Michigan CoE. I got the same postcard on the 27th, registered that night, and this morning I arranged my flight plans to Detroit airport (so excited!!)</p>

<p>As for selectivity, I donāt know, but the postcard does say āAs an admitted student to the Class of 2019, you are invited to attend Michigan Engineeringās Leadership Weekend 2015.ā To me, that seems to imply all admitted students are invited, but that canāt be the case otherwise the 60 spots would be filled much faster?</p>
<p>Edited to add: Well the back says āAs an admitted student highly involved in your high school communityā¦ā so maybe itās based on your leadership roles/extracurricular activities? Not sure.</p>

<p>Itās funny you should say that because I registered the night of the 27th as well, but was surprised that it even went through - I personally donāt know the # of accepted EA CoE applicants, but 60 sounds like a few of the few. </p>
<p>Yep, I was pretty heavily involved in ECs and other activitiesā¦ But not as stellar as other Ivy league applicants here on CC. </p>

<p>Haha same! I had been out all day and came home exhausted, about to fall asleep immediately. So grateful I decided to go to the kitchen and get some water, thereby passing the table and spotting the postcard.</p>
<p>I might try investigating the stats. Looking forward to the participant book with those fun facts!</p>
<p>Yep same haha my family and I were coming back from a family party, just passed by the table and saw the postcard. </p>
<p>I literally submitted the entire application within 15 minutes, with zero time to think about my fun facts. (I mean who knows their own?)</p>
<p>Let me know when you get some stats, because I couldnāt find any online. </p>

Haha my mom got the mail today and called me while I was working. Signed up over the phone, lol. My situation with ECs is the same as viphan - I was involved with a lot, but I know there are a lot of other people with more stellar ECs.

<p>Not everyone is invited and there is a quota limit. So sign up ASAP if you are interested in it.</p>

<p>I donāt want to sound haughty or anything but this probably suggests that CoE invited extremely few selected acceptees. I hope this means we have an edge on the merit-aid scholarships. </p>

<p>On another note, is anybody here planning on driving up to Michigan?</p>
<p>As an east coaster, I canāt imagine driving up to Michigan for over 12 hours. The longest Iāve ever driven is to Pittsburgh, about 6 hours. </p>
<p>It is not a good idea to drive long distance in winter weather. The weather and road condition currently at Ann Arbor is very nice (a bit cold but sunny) today, but it can be icy and snowing any day around that weekend.</p>
<p>I attended leadership weekend last year and will be volunteering at it this year! Let me know if anyone has any questions, Iād love to try to answer them!</p>
<p>Does anyone, maybe Michigangirl22 know the difference between Leadership weekend and Top Scholars weekend? My son was invited to the Top Scholars weekend in Feb. but very little info. was given just like the rest of you have said. Except when registering, he could make travel plans and it said more info. would be coming (I think the week of Jan. 5th, when they are back in session) </p>

<p>@Picarat, it is for College of engineering as well. Its strange- usually in todays internet world, you can find some information out there on these type of events. but I canāt seem to find anything. </p>
<p>@Picaratā - we are hoping its something like the shipman weekend- but it doesnāt say anything about it on the post card or in the response email. I guess we will find out more next week- when they are back in session. </p>
For the last three years I have asked the same question āWhat items do they cover?ā at the Leadership Weekend. I have yet to receive a response. Itās almost like a secret society.
