Michigan Opens Doors

Since getting my acceptance letter on June 17, Michigan has opened many doors for me personally, professionally, academically and culturally. I’ve had a chance to research with the department of psychiatry at the Veterans Affairs Hospital, I have traveled abroad to do research, I have performed on national television with a dance group that I am apart of, I’ve made long lasting friendships, I have been on the executive boards of a couple of organizations, while maintaining good grades and now I have been given the opportunity to shadow a cardiac surgeon at UMHS. As a premed and African American student, I couldn’t have asked for more. Now that I’m entering my final and most important year before I apply to medical school, I must say that Michigan has been worth the OOS cost. These past two years, though filled with ups and downs, have been the best two years of my life. I can say with pride that I go to a school like Michigan! I have to thank the people on CC for giving me advice and motivation, especially Alexandre and Blackpen!

Thanks Entertainer!
It’s great that you have really enjoyed your experience. Keep us updated as the medical school application process rolls around.

So glad to hear how well you’ve done with all the opportunities available at U Michigan!!! I agree, every penny of the OOS tuition has been worth it for my D, too.

You won’t recognize my current username, but I posted here a lot when you were applying and we talked a few times. I am SO, SO glad to hear you are doing well. I thought about you from time to time, wondering if Michigan was all you had hoped it would be. Keep up the great work. :)

This is a really uplifting thread. I’m glad Michigan is working for you.

I am happy to hear you had a good experience at Michigan Entertainer. I firmly believe that Michigan provides students with the most well-balanced undergraduate experience. It seems like you made the most of your time on campus.

As an incoming member of the '15 class, I hope my d will have a similar post in 4 years.

I am sure she will MichorPlan.
