So the $4000 I wrote down at the ADS info session was the max amount then. Do you know when we’d know how much? Not until he puts them as #1 choice or would it be sooner? $750-$4000 is a big range.

One of the scholarship, the one that is only given to a limited amount of in state NMS finalists, sounds like it is only given if you put MSU down as your first choice.

At the ADS session, I think they said max amount in state is $4,000 and I really think they said it was after you list MSU as your first choice. OOS it’s $4,000 plus room & board if you list MSU as your first choice.

They stressed that there were limited funds for this though and not every NMF would get that amount. Not sure how they decide.

I bet you could call or email the Honors College for clarification.

Thanks. It appears my notes aren’t very complete. I probably thought I’d remember the rest. Haha

Hi,Did you recive Honors college invitation?

I am an international student from India and I haven’t received an invitation from Honors college even though I was offered 21K/year in scholarship. I can only afford MSU if I get into Honors college.

Why can you only afford it if you get into Honors? Does Honors come with other money?

Yeah, we get 5k or 13k in scholarship.

How long does it take to get HC scholarship after getting invitation from HC and what is the probability of getting HC scholarship?

FYI - my son just got offered a PA today - found out on a campus visit with the honors college. So there may be another round of invites coming out soon.

Congratulations! What a nice surprise. I think PA is a truly wonderful opportunity. S22 attended the PA seminar yesterday, and we were both quite impressed - a paid research with a faculty mentor sounds priceless.

We are planning to visit. Any suggestions?

Congratulations and thank you!
Will keep eye out on email and portal.

Yesterday I had a HC virtual meet with the faculties. It was really informative. But sadly, I’m still waiting for the HC scholarship.

Anyone else go to the PA webinar last night? My D22 was very impressed and said afterwards that while she is still waiting to hear from UM, she sees herself at MSU because they have offered her so much. My husband and I are happy because while we’d be willing to pay for UM, MSU is more affordable for OOS and the opportunities through the honors college and the PA internship seem really really excellent.

Agree. Thought it was really well done and the students were clearly impressive. MSU has done a great job catering to their honors college students and making them feel special.

It’s amazing that they offer research and ability to work with the faculty to incoming freshmen! That’s a very unique opportunity.

Agree completely! Son also waiting on UM and has other acceptances but MSU keeps rising on his list because of what they offer (merit aid and experiences) as well as the way the honors college and university have communicated with and treated him throughout the process. Very focused on building relationships with applicants, showcasing incredible current students and opportunities, and creating inroads with colleges/staff and it’s working!

Amen. MSU Honors College has brought a lot of light into what has otherwise been a dark process for DD.
