I chose MSU over several full ride Ivy League scholarships becuase of my upbringing and several interviews with the fine staff of MSU. MSU offered a full ride over four years… I hope I made the right decision

I didn’t know that Ivy’s gave “full ride scholarships”.

Due to my AP scored Ive recieved a high ranking with tons of credits, this would allow me to have a sophmore status which acts as a full ride for several semesters.

never heard such a thing

thats too bad

that is not what most people would consider a full ride. you have credit hours that you have earned and therefore won’t have to pay for, but when you use the term full-ride, i don’t think that’s an accurate description of your situation.

not smart kid…

Yes, some Ivy League schools provide full rides. For example, Columbia had the John Jay Scholars when I was underclassman. Of course, you had to be cream of the crop; I believe that only 10 per year were awarded. Nope, I wasn’t a member of that lofty crowd.

“Voted Biggest Ego”

i’m not sure that that’s something to be proud of. lol.

u chose msu

sorry, but ur an idiot

I’d second that, only he’s full of Shi+

4.1 GPA UW. What grading scale are you on, 0.0-5.0?

I turned down Cornell for MSU, and I start in the fall. I am sooo excited about State, and I would have been terribly nervous and afraid of success at Cornell. Everything at MSU fell into place so nicely.

Congratulations to those of you attending MSU in the fall. My dd has also chosen MSU over several schools and scholarships. She’s really excited about the Lyman Briggs program and loved the campus and atmosphere.

Sweet another smart kid comming to MSU. I have a little better then average MSU stats but instead of trying for Michigan Im comming to MSU too.

Good for you! – those coming, and with kids coming, to MSU. Those coming will join a lot of other smart kids, such as yourselves, on campus. The sharp rise in applications shows MSU’s becoming more popular each year, esp among families who want to go Ivy League, or Ivy-like, and cannot qualify for FA to handle the steep tuition bill. This is especially true of Michigan families, although the school is reaching out more and more to out-of-state students, as well, and the number of those students is up. While I won’t go so far as to say, overall MSU is the equal of an Ivy League school, I will say a number of programs, particularly at the undergrad level, either match or surpass their Ivy counterparts: James Madison, Briggs, poli sci, ag, physics, music, psych, creative writing (esp film studies) among them.

I would bet $500 that the MSU admit rate will be less than 50% in ten years. It is seriously going to be the next premiere public school.

What it needs is to find its focus so that it is different enough than Michigan to get OOS notice. I think it is on its way with all this new “arts district” development - quadrupling the size of the art center, building the new RCAH (which I realy hope they decide to name after Mandela), and the new music center.

I swear, MSU has nowhere to go but up. I really think I would choose MSU over Michigan. The opportunities for kids in the honors college at MSU are way better than for a regular kid at Michigan.
