Michigan State University Broad College of Business Direct Admit 2024

Update: DS24 direct admit to Broad went to ASD at MSU and the presentations by Broad were very illuminating. So illuminating, that he decided Business is not for him. He will go to MSU and has already changed his major to something else and found a smaller college within MSU that feels like a perfect fit for him. I only add this update because it’s a good reminder, that when you’re 17/18 and have worked hard in the college process to do your best to make yourself attractive to a particular program, that does not mean that you are not still growing and developing and possibly changing in your interests. After a year of anxiety, DS24 is happy to have made a decision that feels like the perfect fit. The application process asks you to narrow your focus and sometimes it’s good to zoom back out and re-evaluate.

I will add for future Broad applicants, the MSU Facebook site has a lot of good information on the topic of alternative Business paths at MSU if you are not admitted directly or through the secondary path. Do a search for Broad and Mark Largent. He describes all of the business related majors that can be pursued at MSU if a student is not admitted to Broad. Good luck to all!

And to MSBhelen- Pittsburgh is a wonderful city and, for what it’s worth, my son liked the vibe of their Business program better than MSU, although he was impressed by both. I appreciate all of the info you and Midwestmom shared. We might have crossed paths. Congratulations on your decision.

Just my two cents. Leaning towards supply chain then for sure Broad. Other majors in business then it is 50/50. Pros of Kelley is better placement but Con might be the large size (2000 students).

Placement data is below, for comparison.

That is so great! Congrats on finding the right fit! Also, huge kudos to your son for realizing that business wasn’t right and making that switch now!

Disappointed parent of OOS. MSU was my son’s first acceptance along with a very nice merit based scholarship. It was noted that based on his GPA he would a direct admit candidate for Broad. Subsequently he was accepted to 6 other schools (ACC, Big 10 and SEC) and direct admitted to their business schools. We recently found out the he was not make the final wave of admits at MSU. We are disappointed but I guess it wasn’t meant to be. MSU is/ was in his top three…and a DA to Broad may have put MSU at the top. Bummer…
