I know I’ll get a faster answer here than by calling microsoft!

Is anyone else having trouble downloading and then installing the most recent security updates? We (all of us) have had this issue for at least a week. We click on that little yellow shield…the update downloads but it does NOT install. DH, and I have the same problem here…and DD is having the same issue in Africa (where she is in the PC). We have never had a problem downloading and installing these updates in the past.

Something going on at Microsoft?

Oh…once daily we get a message about reporting the problem (which we do).

Operating systems…meaning what? We have not changed our operating systems between this week and last. Last week we were able to install updates. Nothing has changed on this end since the last successful update…a couple of weeks ago.

That’s what I’m doing. I get auto notice of the updates but I have to install manually.

I have Windows XP…not changes have been made to it at all. My husband is having the same problem…and so is my daughter (who has Vista). DD is in Africa.

Vista is still keeping up with things until jul 11

XP hasn’t had anything to speak of any more since jul 2010

These ^two things^ are dependent on what service pack you have a mite bit

Thumper1. Please just methodically go over things on the proper Windows web site and mind the respective registries of the computers of your family. If you partially install something without meaning to, it can harm your registry somewhat, but that can sometimes be fixed by erasing the old data and then defragmenting the hard drive.

Word on geek street is that Windows is not going to have Windows XP on any newly made computers and that is going to make things rather ghastly for those netbooks and the like. Hopefully Linux or maybe even Google will take things over for the netbooks because I am sure a lot of students use them.
