<p>hey, i have a couple of questions.</p>

<p>first, i know this is really random, but does dartmouth allow microwaves in dorm rooms?</p>

<p>second, was i supposed to receive a confirmation email/letter of some sort after letting them know i was definitely going there?</p>

II. Individual Room Policies</p>

<p>1. Permitted and Non-Permitted Items.</p>

<pre><code> A. There are various items that are appropriate for and permitted in residence hall rooms. Please review the list below to identify approved items. Examples of Permitted Items (This list is not exhaustive.):
* Electric refrigerators not larger than three cubic feet; small coffee pots (if UL-approved for commercial use); cordless telephones of 900 MHz or less.
* Electric flat irons, Hair dryers.
* Surge Protectors.

B. There are various items that are not appropriate for use in student rooms for safety reasons. Possession of one or more of these items can subject the occupant(s) of the room to a $50 fine and possible disciplinary action. Examples of Non-Permitted Items (This list is not exhaustive.):
* Air conditioners (Privately-owned Greek and Society Houses develop their own policies.)
* Outside antennas and/or satellite dishes for television/radio reception.
* Waterbeds.
* Portable space heaters; Electrical appliances with a heating element .
* Microwave ovens, Hot plates, Toasters, Rice Cookers.
* Electric, propane gas or charcoal grills.
* Torchier style halogen lamps, or any 99+ watt halogen lamps.
* 2.4 GHz cordless telephones.
* Live or cut Christmas Trees.
* Flammable liquids or gases

<p>Each dorm has a kitchen equipped with a stove, fridge, microwave, oven, etc. My dorm also happens to have a toaster. Some of the freshmen dorms even have kitchens on each floor.</p>

<p>However, nobody does random room searches looking for toasters and microwaves. As long as you keep your small appliances hidden away somewhere (like under your bed), there won’t be any consequences. I even heard of one girl who had a bread machine in her room.</p>

<p>You RD people are receiving a lot more nicey-nice than the ED people. The ED people didn’t even get invited to Dimensions, nor did they receive that e-mail.</p>

<p>aww. that’s sad… i got one of those too! i was stoked. i guess it was just like the final confirmation. but i’m totally sure that by the fall, both EDs and RDs will be pretty much indistinguishable lol :D</p>

<p>EDs did receive a letter from the First Year Office (before Mar30) mentioning that more information will be coming their way in June.
Also received a postcard from a current Dartmouth student(attached to the FYO) .</p>

<p>LOVE (in the form of written communication) might seem really really sparse in the early summer months, especially in comparison to friends who start college at least a month earlier. But… hang in there because eventually that kind of LOVE comes raining down.</p>

<p>Don’t we all! lol But at least the EDs know they are “hog tied”. So not hearing from Dartmouth does not make them panic like the RDs. Some RDs sent back the acceptance card and worry that Dartmouth did not receive it because they do not hear back or receive any confirmation from Dartmouth.</p>

<p>Also a number of the RDs worry that they may not actually have a spot “locked-in” in Dartmouth because they do not remember sending any deposit .(Dartmouth does not require any deposit in case anyone reading does not know)</p>

<p>Yeah, no one will ever know/care about what you have in your room. If you really want a microwave, bring one.</p>

<p>Thanks for all of your replies! I never got the confirmation e-mail, but when I called the admissions office they said that I was signed up to go. Weird. Anyway, I’m so excited!!!</p>
