Mid-term report for non-commonapp schools?

I just got rejected from UMD Smith Business school today because Microecon, Accounting2, and Calculus1 courses are in progress. I am going to report the spring grade to UMD by June 1 to be reconsidered for the business school.

I am so worried if I will be also rejected from other schools I applied to because of this. I applied to UNC and NYU as an economics major. I sent my Mid-term grade report to NYU, but UNC doesn’t use commonapp. I am getting an A grade from all courses and I believe that the mid-term grade will at least give some idea to adcom that I am in good standing.

Any idea on sending mid-term grade report to non-commonapp schools? Will sending commonapp mid-term report affect on my admission decision possitively or negatively?

I asked my TAs/professors to email the admissions office providing my academic progress in my classes; one of my TAs went far above and beyond and wrote a full-on recommendation even though I hadn’t asked for it :)

I’m imagining that it’ll be helpful, but I haven’t seen decisions yet.

elizabeththegrey Thanks for your reply.

That sounds a good idea, but I don’t have much time to do all within a few days. UNC is going to review my application within 2 weeks, or they might even already complete reviewing my application by now. The fastest way will be sending the commonapp midterm report by fax, but I am not sure whether it will bring possitive or negative effect.

I suspect they’ll understand that your professors only have time to write out one set of grades, and that you had them write your grades on the common app. Go for it.

I don’t understand. How could this be negative?

Because UNC doesn’t use commonapp

Just print off the common app midterm report and send it to unc. That’s what i did and the admissions office said that was fine…

I’m not sure they will look at it this late though. Decisions are released next week and i’m sure they’ve started making decisions already

Thanks McBainTrain

I faxed my mid-term report to UNC, and also emailed to the office to ask them to locate my mid-term report in my application. I hope they will consider it in decision.
