DD will be visiting Grandma in Atlanta over winter break Feb 14-20. Shed like to drive over to tour Bama during this time. Shell be majoring in Aero Engr and was selected for the Honors College (but not UFE or CBHP). Suggestions on how best to contact those two departments (and who?) and what else are must see tour items?

As far as I know, the campus tour does not go into Shelby or the Science Complex (I think it just does a “drive by.”) So, I would take the time to walk thru it.

Housing is also not on the tour (except for the drive by). So, I would ask to go see the Honors Dorms or regular dorms (whichever ones interest you.)

The campus tour does include the rec center, but…some tour guides barely take their tours inside. Some guides do walk their tour groups thru, but some barely show anything. I know that I’ve never been shown the indoor pool area or several other areas. So, if you want to see more, just go back and tell the front desk that you’re visiting and they’ll let you in.

Also, the tour doesn’t include the Outdoor Pool Complex. It’s located north of the rec center.

I can’t remember if the campus tour goes inside the main Gorgas Library. If not, then go in that.

For business majors, I would tour the Angelo Bruno Business library.

OSDad, we live in Atlanta and my son (do not know all the abbreviations yet ) will be going to visit the same weekend, looking at Feb. 11-14. He will be visiting the science department of the Honors school.

Mom, any places we should take them other than the classroom, etc. Resturants, hang outs, ???

Along with the above suggestions, it might be a good idea to…

Drive by or visit “The Strip” - located on University just west of the stadium. Stores, restaurants, coffee shops, ice cream (Cold Stone), grocery store (Publix), etc.

Further down is “Down Town” - which has more shops, restaurants, etc. This area has been undergoing a face lift and may soon be done, if not done already.

On McFarland Blvd is Midtown Village - it’s one of those new outdoor “lifestyle malls” that have been popping up in various milder climates across the nation. Has Barnes and Noble, Best Buy, restaurants, stores, etc… [Midtown Village](http://www.midtownvillage.org/)
