Ok, so I’m kinda upset. My exams are next week, and I know that there is no way for me to get an A in AP bio (I got an 83% for first quarter and an 85% for my second quarter). The thing is, my teacher didn’t have enough books for everyone in the class, so I didn’t receive one at the beginning of the year. He is really disorganized, and I ended up not receiving a book until about 3/4 of the way into the semester. He claims that the book wouldn’t have made a difference, since supposedly his quizzes/test are all based on handouts, but my classmates have told me that having a book did make a difference for them. I, as well as my parents, have complained to him several times, and my school’s director won’t do anything about it because she says that the situation is up to him. I know that one B won’t make a huge difference in my GPA, but it could make a difference in college admissions (hopefully not). Also, due to this class, I won’t get this award for straight A’s throughout high school, which I would be ok with if it had been my fault, but it’s not. I don’t know what else to do. Any opinions?

Gp up the ladder. You spoke to the director-not sure if that is the department director or principal/head of your school. If so, then call the superintendent of schools in your town. This is potentially too important to give up on. If you are still unsuccessful, perhaps having your guidance counselor call the schools you applied to, fax them a note, or send an email explaining the situation; might be helpful.

CMA1 is right. if it never gets corrected, you or your counselor should explain it in a letter and send it in with the midyear report. or earlier. whichever.

just another question on sr. year grades— i just got mine and i got 3 A’s and 3 A minuses. in all honesty do you think the A- vs. A makes that big a difference? because i did the calculations and i really ended up with an A not an A- in one class. is this worth correcting??? i know this sounds absolutely ridiculous, but i really am wondering what i should do about it.

An A- is not a big deal at all.
Really, be happy with it. I got an 83 in Calculus and after a good week of freaking out, I’ve just accepted the fact that…I got an 83.

(83?!!?!?!?!? how did that even happen!?)

No really though. An A- is DEFINITELY ok.

I just got a 92 in AP Calc AB. -.-

I have a 89.4 average after 2 quarters of French IV. Luckly I still have an exam. I’m getting another A- for sure.

Fun story, I was one of 3 juniors in my calc AB class, and seniors get our 2 or 3 weeks early at my school. All I did for the last 2 weeks was work for the teacher, doing stuff for an assembly. I ended up with a 92.3 or 92.4 and he wouldn’t give me the .1 or .2 percent for the A in the class. I was ****ed.

^^ so an A is a 93?? (92.5 rounding)…and i thought i had it bad with a 92 as an A…

Yep. Don’t a lot of schools do only A’s, B’s etc? No + or -? It really depends on the teacher. Some round, some don’t, some do 94 for an A.

Yeah, my school does only the letter grades and no +'s or -'s. Therefore, it’s pretty easy to get a 4.0. This super achiever who gets all A’s and A+'s has a mom that complains about the system a lot.

Honestly, its people like your mom that ruin a lot of things. I had a teacher that let students out of exams if they had A’s both quarters. Then people started complaining cause they were close. So he got rid of the policy and now nobody can get out of the exam.

I got a C+ in my multivariable calculus class…I will never get into any of the colleges I want to go

I’m not so sure about that, cawaiigirl. Was this one quarter or overall?

oo this is first semester of senior year
god I hate that class. It’s so hard!!! I don’t know anyone who got an A in that class
