<p>OK. So I’m sorry to be repetitive with these threads because I’m sure there have probably have been threads like this many times before. It’s my senior year and of course senioritis has kicked in already ESPECIALLY since I already got into one college which was my safety. So now my grades are kind of going down the dumpster. I have like a 76 average now in AP Calc…but I’m working now to get that up to a B- somehow. And AP Chem…I don’t even know it’s in the C range. </p>
<p>All my other classes are consistent with what I got 1st marking period though. So I guess I’m alright with those.</p>
<p>I’m like panicking now but I can only really blame myself. I wanted to get into like BC, Lehigh, or Colgate with my stats and stuff but my mid year report is really going to bring me down.</p>
<p>How badly would the midyear report look? If the student were somewhat well-rounded with everything else, would the midyear report really bring them down?</p>
<p>Many that require mid-year reports do look at the mid-year grades. More than one admissions officer from high ranked schools have said that a bad mid-year report can kill your chances of admission.</p>

<p>no, but it wont kill him, b/c he has all As the rest of his years. im in the same boat as u cory123, but i dont understand how senior year is supposed to be the easiest, i mean i’m taking all APs, and this year has definitely been my hardest.</p>
<p>Plenty of people get into good schools already having had 1 or 2 Cs during high school… if anything senior year would be considered the same as that, so I wouldn’t think it would be your downfall.</p>
<p>I sure hope not, because I’ve gotten all A’s my frosh/soph/jr years, and this semester I just recieved 4 A’s, 1 A-, a B+ in a college class, and a B- (in calc. ahh!).</p>

<p>mid year reports are important ONLY if yuo go down substatially. an A to a B will NOT send any red flags. the most prestigious colleges DO look at your senior progress. so beware</p>
<p>i just wanted to know if midyear reports contain your average thus far in the year or do they contain specific midterm grades. cause if they contain averages ill do fine, but my midterms grades themselves arent that good.</p>
<p>That’s a question you have to ask your high school. Different schools do things different ways; there’s no “routine way” that a transcript is processed. The colleges will see what your school sends.</p>
<p>I would say there are several possible scenarios when senior grades get reviewed thoroughly:
You were a 4.0 student but your school offers only a few AP courses and most of them are during senior year. Is it the school problem? If you take AP Calculus and AP Chemistry during your senior year and get two Cs (or even low Bs), then you are in a big, big trouble. You haven’t proved that you would be a great student if you had 12 APs.
You had 5 APs as a junior an got As. You take 4 or 5 (similar difficulty) as a senior and get all Bs (or B average). Bad - succumbed to senioritis. They know you could handle these courses.
<p>I was deferred from my first choice in the fall. My first quarter senior year grades were pretty good, with the exception of AP Chem and Calc ( high 70’s). For second quarter, my grades went up 11 and 12 points, respectively. However, I did not do well on my midterm exams. How much to the midterms count? All of my second quarter grades are in the low 90’s/high eighties, and most of my exam grades are the same way, with the exception of AP Chem. Did I just kill my chances of being admitted?</p>
<p>dink i would talk to your counselor and ask if they could average out your grades without the midterm grades in there since you were deferred. i am in the same situation and i know that if one of my midterms were averaged in it would drop that classes average down to a B. just try to work it out with your coun</p>
<p>i was thinking about asking guidance to just send along my report card. Although it would show the 2 bad exam grades, it would be the worst thing on my report card, but hopefully what they will truly see is the improvement I have made from 1st to 2nd quarter, not just stupid exam grades hahaa…I did have 8 exams to take :(</p>
<p>I have the opposite situation. What if you’re getting the best grades you’ve ever had senior year? What happens then? I mean, I’d hate for all my grades to go to waste, personally.</p>
<p>I’ve just been sorta cruising along this year fighting senioritis. Badly. But, now it’s heavily kicking in. Atleast the midyear reports count more than the final report!</p>
<p>I’m sure good grades will certainly help: however, the prevailing assumption, as far as I can tell, is that a slight dip in grades (5-10 points at the most) won’t hurt you too much senior year.</p>
<p>What if you had a B+ in a class and really messed up on the mditerm so that it went down to C+ and that was the only thing lower than an A- on your midyear report? I think my school only reports the letter grade on midyr reports and I’ve only got 1 B- in my life and nothing lower than that ever.</p>
<p>THe C+ is in Calc AB (yeah i know, it’s not even BC but idk… i dont have an excuse).</p>

<p>I’m applying to Brown as a prospective biology or psychology concentrator. I know that B- and lower is terrible but how screwed am I with that C+? I’m freaking out and I’m going to my GC tom. I feel like I’ve wasted my hard work these past few years on 1 stupid exam. Today was like the 1st time i cried in 2 years… Can anybody shed some light on my situation?</p>
