MId Year report through the Common App

Hi guys,

so i sent in my midyear report through the common app, but it doesn’t show on my eli account. how do i know they’ve received it. Also, if i didn’t apply to school through the common app, but it shows up in “My Colleges”, doest that mean they receive my Midyear report and letters of recs as well?

Please answer, i’m getting worried.

naijagrl, I am curious about your saying that you sent the midyear report, since that form is usually sent by the school counselor. Did the counselor give you a sealed envelope to mail? Is that what you mean?

https://www.commonapp.org/CommonApp/DownloadForms.aspx

This is the link for printing out a hard copy of the Common Application Midyear Report form. If you look at the form, it says to give the form and addressed, stamped envelopes to the counselor or other school official. There’s also a procedure for identifying your school counselor and recommenders online, and those people then receive an email inviting them to complete forms for you. This would apply if you were planning to use the Common App online for your applications.

If you did not apply to the school through the Common App online, then your letters from teachers would not have been sent online, because they get picked up and attached to the application at the time that the application is submitted online.

You can list schools on the “My Colleges” page and then not send anything at all to those schools. My Colleges just makes a list. You need to apply to the schools online before the teacher recommendations get attached. Also, your recommenders and the counselor have an option of sending forms through the mail, on paper instead of online; it’s their choice, even if you apply online through the Common App.

I may have misunderstood your question, but I hope this helps. I suggest that you discuss the issue with your school counselor, who might be able to get this straightened out for you by calling and explaining the misunderstanding to the admissions office. Actually, I hope I am the one misunderstanding your question. There is a thread here about the Common App. Maybe you want to take your question to that forum.
