I have bought the TJ quick cooking - they are decent!

Report from the trip- I walked after dinner on Friday night ( ate fried chicken but only one piece). Took a 3.5 mile walk with my sister on Sat. Walked again on Sunday, went to yoga yesterday.Just took a short walk this AM but hiking at the state park today. Trying not to over eat!

Dont…want…to…do…planned…circuit…training…

Too bad self, it’s on the schedule - you have to do it. Take one more slurp of coffee and get to it.

Great efforts last two posts!!! ^^^

Not if you are insulin resistant/pre-diabetic with metabolic syndrome and high fasting insulin levels.

Nrdsb4, what should those people eat?

Protein, good fats and complex carbs (fruits and veggies).

I think I’m confused by what it means low-fat diets? Does that only mean more carbs? It could also mean more fruits and veggies right?

I have now lost the five pounds that I have been trying to lose all year. Yay! Thanks to everyone on this thread for inspiration and encouragement!

I put on the five pounds over the holidays last year, all due to luscious sweet treats. In the past, any holiday weight would slip away once I stopped eating the holiday food. Not this time. I have GOT to remember that when the holidays roll around this year.

I’m not yet at my target weight. I don’t really know what my target weight is. I just know that there are three dresses that I would like to be able to wear again that are currently too tight. Once I can wear those (while still breathing comfortably), I will be there, weight-wise.

I will still keep working out. I have got to got to got to.

@missypie Congrats! Your hard work and willpower have paid off.

I have begged my mom not to bring her home made goodies over the holidays, but she does it anyway. Then I eat them, then I gain weight, then the weight wants to stay and visit.

There you go! That’s your target! I think being able to fit into a “barometer piece of clothing” is the best approach to weight management. Yoplait was absolutely correct in that infamous bikini commercial.

Congrats on shaking off the sticky pounds!

Five pound party for missypie!

Post #740: “Low-fat diets ‘better than cutting carbs’ for weight loss.”

The article linked to said this conclusion came from a study of 19 people. And I’m sure if we looked closer at the methodology, etc., we’d find lots of other issues. I’m not changing my diet based on the result of what happened to 19 people.

Everything I’ve read in the last year, in addition to our intensive discussions in the exercise/diet/health thread, has convinced me that a low-fat diet is the worst thing you could do – not only for weight loss, but for health reasons in general.

This is just intuitively correct to me. Since the first time I’ve “dieted,” when I was in my 20s, it was logical that if I wanted to lose weight I cut out carbs like bread and pretzels and cake. Just compare the calorie counts of carbs to other food groups.

Congrats MissyPie! Blowing my noisemaker for the five pound party!!!

congrats! MP!
I have lost and gained 3-4 for the past few weeks so am nowhere. It is not my usual pattern.
I continue to have an upper body exhaustion 4-5 hours after a workout. I have researched and eaten protein after and such but it has become debilitating for the entire evening. I have cut all of my wieghs down. Nothing hurts while I am doing my workout, just after.
I have never taken suppliments but purchased L-Arginine for a trail.

@oregon101 - have you tried eating a hardboiled egg (or other version) after your workout. The egg is said to be the food that is a complete protein and is supposed to quickly help in post workout repair.

Yay, missypie!

Much ado for losing 5 little pounds compared to what others here have done…but I’ll take it!!!

missypie, I found it was easy to lose the first 20 pounds… losing the last 5 was not so fast. So there! Be proud.
